What is the Struthers School Foundation?

The Foundation was established to provide funds for extended educational activities not provided by the school district.  It is incorporated under the State of Ohio as a non-profit organization and will function separately from the Struthers Board of Education.  It has a charter with an approved Code of Regulations.

Who will the Foundation help?
The monies contributed are intended to provide students of the Struthers City School District with supplemental reading materials, computer equipment, guest speakers, and other items to enrich educational opportunities.

How does the Foundation work?
The Foundation trustees will be raising funds and encouraging partnerships with the community and state and will be appealing to alumni, businesses, and local residents to assist the Foundation's cause.  Your contributions, bequests and gifts will be placed into the Foundation Account.  The Foundation's Board of Trustees will conduct needs assessments and will determine how the Foundations fund will be awarded.

Where will gifts be held?
Funds will be held at National City Bank.  The goal of the Foundation is to establish an endowment, whereas, only the interest earned from the endowment will be used.


Are Gifts Tax Deductible?
Yes.  The Foundation is a 501(c) (3) non-profit organization.


Why was the Foundation Established?
The Foundation was established to give alumni, community members, businesses, and all concerned, an opportunity to support the academics of the school district.  By law, the Board of Education must approve a resolution to say a foundation can begin and has to appoint the 1st Board of Trustees.  Once established, the Board of Education does not operate the Foundation.

How will the contributions
be recognized and reported?

Charter donors will be acknowledged on designated plaques that will be prominently displayed in the new high school.  An annual financial report will be published and available to the public.
